Acupuncture Through The Trimesters
Pregnancy Acupuncture Bengaluru | Antenatal Acupuncture Across All Trimesters
Nine Months of Support - Trimester by Trimester
Every trimester brings its own changes, its own challenges, and its own opportunities for care. Acupuncture during pregnancy is not a single treatment – it is an evolving protocol that adapts to exactly where you and your baby are in the journey.
At Sammilana, our antenatal acupuncture programme is designed and delivered by Dr. Pooja Shah – an experienced maternity wellness expert who has accompanied hundreds of women through pregnancy with skill, warmth, and genuine care.
FIRST TRIMESTER
What we address: nausea and vomiting, extreme fatigue, anxiety, support for implantation and early pregnancy, prevention of threatened miscarriage.
The first trimester is often the most anxious time, particularly for women who have experienced previous losses. Our gentle protocols focus on calming the nervous system, supporting progesterone balance, improving uterine blood flow, and managing the exhaustion and nausea that can make these weeks so challenging.
SECOND TRIMESTER
What we address: preparation for labour, breech presentation support, pelvic girdle pain, insomnia, anxiety about birth.
The third trimester is about preparation. Our protocols in these final weeks focus on preparing the body and mind for birth – supporting cervical ripening, addressing any positional concerns, and giving you the tools and confidence to approach labour calmly.
THIRD TRIMESTER
What we address: nausea and vomiting, extreme fatigue, anxiety, support for implantation and early pregnancy, prevention of threatened miscarriage.
The first trimester is often the most anxious time, particularly for women who have experienced previous losses. Our gentle protocols focus on calming the nervous system, supporting progesterone balance, improving uterine blood flow, and managing the exhaustion and nausea that can make these weeks so challenging.

FAQs - Pregnancy Acupuncture
Yes, when performed by a qualified practitioner who is trained in pregnancy Acupuncture. We use protocols that are specifically designed for use during pregnancy and avoid any points that are contraindicated. Dr. Pooja holds specialist maternity credentials and has extensive experience in antenatal acupuncture.
Moxibustion - a warming technique used on a specific Acupuncture point - has been shown in clinical research to encourage foetal version in cases of breech presentation. We offer this as part of our third-trimester programme. It is most effective before 36 weeks and should be used alongside conventional monitoring.
This varies. In the first trimester, we typically recommend weekly sessions. In the second trimester, fortnightly is usually sufficient. In the third trimester, more frequent sessions in the final weeks support birth preparation. We will give you a specific plan at your first consultation.
